Your tomorrow starts literally tomorrow
➔ Just as Little Orphan Annie used to sing, “The sun will come out tomorrow,” mañana is a very important day for the job seeker. Although it rarely happens literally, when you’re in transition you could start tomorrow if the hiring manager asked. That kind of availability should be most appealing to any company.
But there’s more
Yes, while it’s true that any job seeker currently without a position literally could start tomorrow, as a Nifty50, you can deliver even more benefits than mere timeliness. While any recent college grads in their early-mid 20's can start tomorrow, the 50+ brings a whole other dimension to the concept.
Not only can you start work tomorrow, because of your years of experience and expertise, you can start producing tomorrow as well. How many 20-year olds can hit the ground running? Very few. How many 50-year olds can walk in, sit down and go right to work? Most anyone.
Often we talk about how the 50+ job seeker brings more to the table than younger counterparts, and this is a prime example. You don’t have to be “brought up to speed.” You shouldn’t need any extensive training program. Worst case scenario, you may have to learn the peculiarities of how your new employer does things, or maybe some new nomenclature. Aside from that, tell me where the coffee machine is and where the restroom is and I’m ready to go.
But the bottom line is that first thing tomorrow morning, you’re there and ready to begin producing; ready to start doing the job you were hired to do.
