You may not want to admit it, but this is a good time
Welcome to October. It’s now officially fall. The equinox has pasted and we’re now experiencing more dark than light each day. And football is in full swing.
The other thing that October signals is that next month is November which brings Thanksgiving and that means the holiday season. Of course there are those who believe that the holidays begin with Halloween, but let’s face it, that’s not the norm.
“And this all affects my job search how?”
We know that you don’t want to think about it in this light, but the reality is that you may not land a “real job” between now and the first of the year. Le t’s assume the worst and that don’t have your next dream job before January 1. So what’s your Plan B?
We’re well aware that most people don’t like to face the reality of the holidays during the first week in October, but do you know who does? Employers. In particular, retailers. They’ve already begun their planning and they are gearing up for the holiday season. And that means opportunity for all job seekers, and especially this year, during the “Big Quit,” that spells opportunity for the older job seeker.
You have experience. You have business savvy. You’re reliable and dependable. You’re perfect for most seasonal jobs. And if you start your holiday job search now, you’re more likely to scout out the better paying seasonal work. If you’re considering seeking a holiday job, don’t wait until the week before Thanksgiving. Do it now!
Not ready to give up on your job search? We understand and we completely agree. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t demonstrate your willingness to work (and maybe learn something new) and make some money!
There are a lot of plusses there.
