Is it time to ‘turn the tables’?

The ways that people look for jobs and the ways that they get hired have changed fundamentally over the past couple of decades. While that’s ever so true, essentially the process hasn’t changed. Job seeker contacts company with a laundry list of their qualifications and their background. But, what if…

Instead of “cover letter and enclosed resume,” job seekers carefully researched companies that share their values to find companies that share a commitment to staff and customers. The online world – and especially now with the dawn of AI – provides many ways to find such companies.

The first job of Human Resources is to review dozens (or even hundreds) of cover letters and resumes to determine who can be eliminated and who to call. You are one of many.

A different approach: “I am searching for an employer”

Dear Hiring Manager:

As a manager, I recruit the brightest, self-starters with high level skills. I tucked away my ego and let them do their jobs. They always exceed my expectations.

Recruiting, training and retaining staff is costly and can be a drain on the organization’s growth and profit. Building a stable productive team minimizes these expensive functions.

As an experienced Director of Marketing, this approach has provided results with staff feeling valued, effective and part of a team that support each other. I am searching for an employer that shares this approach to management.

If you are that employer, you may contact me at xxx.xxx.xxxx. We will review my resume at that time.
