Age Discrimination

"Age is a characteristic that applies to everyone, regardless of demographic classification… Older workers feel bias and discrimination when their many years of experience are considered “too much” for the role or when they are excluded from the applicant pool because of the assumption that their salary demands will exceed the budgetary limits."

Is ageism essentially age discrimination?

The theories of ageism are based on biases of age. They believe that a person’s ability and worth is reflected by the essence of their age. The theories are well respected, and they represent the beliefs and philosophies of scientists, researchers and analysts. Although these theories represent truth, they also represent the grounds of discrimination.
